Building the Bridge from Potential to Success

At Turning Pointe Autism Foundation, our mission is to provide exceptional quality, compassionate care, guidance and education for children and adults impacted with autism and their families. From access to achievement, Turning Pointe Autism Foundation will provide a stable and nurturing environment that promotes growth and independence in all major life areas including community, expression, vocation, socialization, education, recreation and life skills.
Currently our existing public education system cannot meet the special needs of a child with autism, especially those severely impacted by the disorder. Children with autism require a unique learning environment free of distractions and focused on the therapies and processes that will best enable them to thrive. Autism is more common in children than cancer, diabetes, Down’s Syndrome and AIDS combined. There are very limited resources and virtually no residential options for adults living with autism.
We invite you to learn more about our facilities, programs and how you can help us meet the challenge of those families living with autism.
Progress to Date and Next Steps
The Turning Pointe Autism Foundation Board of Directors has met with Naperville’s mayor, City Council, and local school districts. All have been supportive of the new school. The land purchase is complete and the project is currently engaged in the design and zoning process. Approval is expected by the end of 2009. We estimate that construction will begin by fall 2010 and that the school will open in the fall of 2011. Canadian National Railway has made a $2 million contribution towards the Autism Academy and is the first of many generous investments in the project.
