TP ADDEPT – CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

The overall goal of our Career Development program is to mutually meet the needs of our corporate partners and our clients by providing well trained, productive and dedicated employees with meaningful careers. Turning Pointe’s Career Development program involves partnering with Fortune 500 companies and other employers in our community to create mock environments, skills development and training programs, job coaching and on-site supports to facilitate a transition to work environments that align with an individual’s skills and interests. The program will enhance the quality of life of all of our students by maximizing independence and supporting community integration through a vocational training program and support system that is highly individualized, intensive in nature and focused on the development of adaptive skills and strategies to be successful. Turning Pointe believes that each individual has the potential to find meaningful and gainful employment that plays to their strengths but recognizes that these strengths may need some focused attention and challenges addressed to bring the best out in the person.  Working with our corporate partners and our trained staff, each student will have an individualized Career Plan that clearly states these strengths and weaknesses, establishes periodic goals, and begins to identify what industries may be best suited for the person now and in the future and establishes a time period to attain these goals.  Semi annual assessments are held with the family, the student and the Turning Pointe staff each time adjusting the Career Plan to drive to gainful, paid employment.   Chris Simler Director of Career Development Services Christopher Simler is the Chief Executive Officer and Disability Outreach Consultant for Integrated Behavioral Systems, Inc and is an Adjunct Professor at Elmhurst College.
