Indy RLL Bobby Rahal to Participate in Invitational Golf Event
We are pleased to announce that three-time IndyCar Champion, 1986 Indianapolis 500 winner and Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Co-Owner will be participating in our Annual Golf Event.
One of open wheel racing’s most consistent drivers during his career, Rahal is one of only a handful of individuals to win the Indy 500 as both a driver and a team owner. Along with late night talk show icon David Letterman, he is a principal in Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. Among his current and past protégées are Ryan Hunter-Reay, 2004 Indy 500 winner Buddy Rice, Danica Patrick and Vitor Meira. Bobby Rahal is responsible for bringing Honda into the North American open-wheel racing in the early 90s, an involvement as a manufacturer that has produced eight championships and over 100 victories including three Indy 500 triumphs. In addition, his team won the 2010 GT team and manufacturers championships in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) with BMW as well as sweeping the top two spots in the 2011 Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring, and Rahal is the driving force behind the new HMP Legends of Motorsports historic racing series. Along with his leadership of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, he operates Rahal Automotive Group, a string of car dealerships in Pennsylvania, and is very active in the community through the Bobby Rahal Foundation.
Chicago Bulls GM Gar Forman to Participate in Invitational Golf Event
We are pleased to announce that Chicago Bulls General Manager, Gar Forman, will be joining us with a Bulls foursome in the TPAF Golf Event this year. Gar was named NBA Co-Executive of the Year for the 2010-2011 season, after leading the Bulls to a record 62 wins. Gar was named GM in 2009 after being in the organization for 11 years as a scout, director of player personnel, and special assistant to executive vice-president of basketball operations.We are honored by Gar’s support of our mission and look forward to seeing him at Edgewood Valley on August 29th.
CBS 2 News Anchor Rob Johnson to Participate in Invitational Golf Event
We are excited to announce that CBS 2 News Anchor Rob Johnson will be our Celebrity Starter and lead our “Beat the Celebrity” Golf Challenge at our golf outing! Rob Johnson is the weekday anchor of the CBS 2 evening newscasts at 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM. He joined CBS 2 in August 2006 from WLS-TV where he worked since 1998 as weekend anchor and reporter. Rob has won five Emmy Awards. He has also received awards from the Chicago Headline Club, Associated Press, Belle Center of Chicago, Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, North Shore Special Education District, and the Ukrainian National Museum. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Brain Research Foundation and so an Honorary Board Member of the “H” Foundation, a cancer research organization, and is an Associate Member of the Chicago Blackhawk Alumni.
Rob also dedicates much of his personal time to organizations that support people with disabilities. In his spare time he enjoys ice hockey, golfing, and skiing, Rob and his wife, Stacy, live with their son in the western suburbs.
Summer Family, Community Training Series
The Turning Pointe Autism Foundation announces a four part workshop series that allows professionals and family members to further develop their understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis and its application at home in a practical way to improve the lives of their children and students.
The workshop is a four part series.
- An overview of Applied Behavior Analysis
- Understand the function of behavior and developing behavior support plans
- Teaching your child and student to manage their own emotional regulation and escalation cycle (Sonia and Robin)
- The practical application of a behavior support plan in your home and at school. Monitoring its progress and adjusting to suit the child’s needs.
Please note the series of four workshops costs:
- For parents and family members currently attending TP school or camp $100 per couple or 2 persons
- Members of the community $125 per couple or 2 persons
- Employees of School District 203/204 $50 per person (Please call for a discounted rate for groups of 10 or more)

Sibling Information Session
This all day session will focus on creating a dialogue for siblings of individuals with autism. The goal will be to shed light on some of the ways having a sibling with autism affects the individual child/teen and will give them a place to meet other siblings and discuss common concerns and experiences. |
