Step 1:
The school district will be contacted and a copy of the current IEP and any pertinent information will be requested. The Turning Pointe team will review the student’s current IEP and any outside evaluations/3-year reevaluations.
Step 2:
If based on the information reviewed, we feel Turning Pointe may be an appropriate placement for the student, we will move forward with an observation of the current school setting. We will also arrange for a meeting with the parents and student at Turning Pointe.
Step 3:
If at this point Turning Pointe staff, the school district and the parents feel Turning Pointe is an appropriate placement for the student, we will move forward with the acceptance process. Turning Pointe strives to maintain positive partnerships with the districts we serve. It is our goal to serve as another resource to our school districts and families.
As such, Turning Pointe CN Demonstration School will only begin the intake process for families who have the support of their school district for alternate placement or families who have decided to a private pay, unilateral placement
