Dr. Kasari will review research on joint attention, play skills and parent/ caregiver intervention in the development of social skills in individuals on the Autism Spectrum

You can choose two out of four options, during the sessions you will get to further explore and address your own concerns and needs in a small group setting with a professional in the field.
Sonia- will discuss visual supports and organization
Sharon- will review communication and typing as a means to communicate
Robin- will review behavior intervention supports
Dr. Kassari- will discuss her research findings and how they pertain to you

Sonia Dickson- Bracks, has over twelve years experience working with individuals, families and School Districts in the area of ASD, programming and behavior. Sonia designs and implements school programs, staff trainings and behavior support plans. She focuses on practical ways to prevent behavior, promote communication and organization and develops social skills programs. These are strategies that are effective and generalize to real life settings.
Sharon Rosenbloom, MA CCC-SLP is a Speech and Language Pathologist and Autism Consultant. For over sixteen years, Sharon has worked and trained in the world of autism, conducting conferences and training seminars and working with autism programs in the United States and Canada. Sharon is the parent of Joey, a 21- year old young man with autism. She is the author of the award-winning book: Souls: Beneath and Beyond Autism
Robin Shipley, MA is a specialist in behavior supports using the principals of ABA, Robin teaches effective replacement behaviors, using coping strategies and self management skills. Her experience in appropriate and effective application of ABA is evident in her students and families.
Connie Kasari, Ph.D. is Professor in the Division of Psychological Studies in Education in the UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Sciences. Dr. Kasari’s research has focused on social-emotional and cognitive development in typical and atypical children. Dr. Karsari is Principal Investigator on an innovative treatments project funded by NIMH. |
