How to not be a partisan hack

Politics; everyone’s favorite non controversial subject! Today is a lesson in being principled. We have to strive to remember to praise those who do the right thing even when they’re on the opposite side of the fence. Recently Donald Trump pulled the US out of the TPP (trans-pacific partnership), which I agree with. Since I am trying to be principled and care about policy substance I must, and have, praised the new president about this. If Bernie Sanders did this I would also praise him. Keep this in mind, if you would do nothing but throw a temper tantrum if Obama does something, you had better do the same if Trump does the same thing. If you dont, well you’re just playing for a team and not caring about policy substance. If that is the case then I cannot take your ideas seriously. The reverse is true, Dont complain about Trump doing something if you didnt care when Obama did something similar to it. Here’s a fine example, being in favor of the patriot act when Bush was in office and the SECOND a democrat gets in power you suddenly decide its a breach of civil liberties, I’M LOOKING AT YOU, SEAN HANNITY! If you were against it (or for it) with both presidents then you are at least somewhat consistent and discussion is possible. Stay true to your principles and remember that even a broken clock is right twice a day.
